Well, Ty and I finally took a vacation. We looked at the map and decided that we'd never been to Kentucky and that there were things there that we would enjoy seeing. So we packed our little bags and headed off. What a nightmare! Kentucky itself was wonderful, but getting there and getting home was ridiculous!
We were supposed to leave on Thursday afternoon from the Harrisburg airport. So, I dropped Isaac off at his grandma's and headed home to collect my husband so that we could leave. We got to the airport and after waiting 1 1/2 hours, we found out that weather had delayed our flight to the point that we would have missed our connection to Louisville. AND because it was caused by the weather, the airline would do nothing to accommodate us if we did miss our connection (the last flight to Louisville of the night). BUT, they would change our flight so that we left Harrisburg the next afternoon OR Baltimore the next morning. So, we left the airport, went to dinner, went to bed, got up at 4 in the morning to be to Baltimore by 6:30 to fly out at 8:30. The nice thing was that we did get to fly 1st class from Atlanta to Louisville.
We had a great time in Kentucky in the Mammoth Caves. Here are some pictures:

We also went to the Gaylord Grand Ol' Opry Hotel and Resort in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a 9 acre arboretum that was simply amazing. It had an indoor river tour and several places to eat and shop. ALL INDOORS!!

After Nashville, we made a pit stop in Glasgow, Kentucky to see our favorite Kentucky nephews and niece (and their parents)!

We also made a pit stop at Abraham Lincoln's birthplace. It was one of those places that now we can say we've seen.

On our way home the flying nightmare repeated. We were supposed to leave at 5:55 p.m. At 5:50 p.m. the plane wasn't even at the gate yet. No one from the airline ever made an announcement that anything was going to be late. We got on the plane and then sat for another 20 minutes. When we realized that we were only going to have about 20 minutes (if that) to get to our connecting flight (on the other side of the airport) we talked to the flight attendant about it. Well, he was rude and told us that he could run around twice in that amount of time and never really answered our questions. When we did finally land. We had to run to catch the shuttle that would take us from the 'A' terminal to the 'C' terminal. When we got off the shuttle we heard them page us and say we had 1 minute before they were closing the gate. We made it and to our disbelief, so did our luggage! Ty was sure that if we'd missed that connection he'd see fireballs from my nose and mouth. I am thinking he might have been correct!
